Had a great holiday here, Village and area were great. Lots to see and do for all ages. Will be returning to the area again next year. 3 small points to mention on booking this place.
The terrace was a lovely place to sit but some more relaxed seating would have made it perfect.
The living area seats 4 comfortably 5 at a push, some additional seating here would be good for evenings, but as the dining area is so close, we tended to use the table & chairs and soft seating area combined.
We had expected but did not check out before hand that when it said satellite there would be a wider range of English channels to watch in the evenings. There are some and but there is also a lovely wide range of DVDs to watch.
We loved the quirky nature of the house with its nooks and crannies and other than the 3 minor points above everything is well equipped, there is everything you need for a fantastic holiday in the Minervois region of France, and we loved the local wines.... I’ve even been converted to drinking red winefrom Rieux now.

My Girlfriend and I stayed here at the beginning of July 2010 for 5 days, what a culture shock, no rain hot, hot, hot just what you would expect for the French Riviera, the house was very comfortable everything we needed the roof terrace is a very nice touch with a spiral staircase going up to it, saw the comment from a previous customer about the tight staircase, it is small but not untowards, i am an XXL size and had no problem whatsoever. The area is beautiful with vineyard after vineyard and less than an hour to the Mediterranean, and very close to the Spanish border if you dont fancy the coast there is always the Pyrenees for a breathtaking mountain adventure.

We stayed in this unique but interesting village house for a week in July 2009 and had a lovely relaxing time. The house is very homely, well equipped and clean. As a couple we stayed in the bedroom with the spiral staircase which leads to the modern bedroom which has a spacious shower! We also spent some gorgeous sunny afternoon up on the terrace and, of course, not forgetting the evening of 4th of July - La Bastille - watching the massive fireworks display over the castle in the village. The villagers are very friendly and the vineyards only a stone throw away. Le Bouligerie is only 2 minutes down the road and there is a Spar grocery store about 15 minutes walk away. We also discovered Le Moulin de St Anne only 20 minutes drive away - this is a must - there are fantastic views from up that hill!!! Last but not least we managed to spend our last day under the bright, blue sunny sky on the beach at St Pierre (a bit of a drive away from the village but worth the drive - why not take a picnic and stay for the whole day!!!)

We booked in December 2008 for arrival 3rd October to the 8th October 2009.
When we arrived we were horrified to see that the toilet and bathroom for one of the bedrooms is only accessible via a spiral staircase. This may be alright for 20 year olds, but we are 4 sixty year olds and did not appreciate having to negotiate these stairs in the middle of the night. Had we known that this was the case we never would have booked this house. There was nothing on the website about this, only a reference to the roof terrace that was accessed by a spiral staircase. A roof terrace is something that you can choose to go to, not a toilet.
On arrival we were immediately told there would be a charge for electricity, we were not informed of this previously. Even though the weather was quite warm and remained that way for the whole time we were there so no heaters were used. Even though in the guest information book at the house stated that charges would only apply from November on through the winter. Our objection was conveyed to the owner via housekeeper and a very curt reply was sent back that despite what the guest book stated a charge of 7.5 euros would be charged. We pointed out that we had had to replace globes in the house and in fact one of the connections in the toilet was dangerous, a wire coming out of the wall with a globe attached which had scorched the wall where the hot globe lays against the door frame.
This house is not for everyone and the owner can only be described as inflexible and petty.
I will not be recommending this house to any of my friends.
Owner reply:
We sympathise that this customer’s travelling companion had a mobility problem. We were not contacted beforehand. Anyone with mobility problems should make proper enquiry before making a booking anywhere. Many people in their sixties have stayed in this house without any complaint. There are two toilets and those who don’t like a spiral staircase can use the other one. Guests are not authorised to change light bulbs. Blown light bulbs are changed on request and without charge. The light fitting in the toilet has been checked. The wiring is insulated and safe. Electricity is charged from October to May and this is stated on the website which can be checked before making a booking. Customers create unnecessary embarrassment for themselves and others if they refuse to pay in breach of contract. If you like French village houses, you would like this one. We love it!

Spacious (because it was two properties it means people can get away from each other in separate parts of the house if they want!) and well-equipped house in a very good village within really easy reach of very good walks and sites and things to do. Very peaceful street (though extremely narrow, as we were warned!) and a village with everything we needed. Nice roof terrace too!

Booked at last minute - which went very smoothly - hence particularly good value for money for us.
Location is great for access with beaches, mountains, historic towns, scenery and vineyards galore all within one hours drive - though it is a location where you will certainly want to have a car!
Active village - we were there for the 14th July fireworks which were great! Everything you need is available with garage, supermarket, choice of bakers, hole in the wall banks, 3 days a week small market for produce, choice of 2 restaurants and a take away all within walking distance.
House is in a quiet back street of an old village -the street is very narrow so take care if you take the car to the door (GPS users beware!) House was very comfortable for 4 of us with each child able to have their own bedroom, though the social areas would be "compact" if there were 6 of you. Well equipped kitchen and a great fridge/freezer. Assistance is just around the corner if you need (we did not). Slightly quirky layout due to being 2 houses knocked together -but that gave complete privacy to the master bedroom which was great for us.

For us the description of the property, although not clear was acceptable. For many it would not be. A washer was promised and it was not operational. The couple who were available to help out, were very helpful, even doing some laundry for us. They gave good information for finding our way around and places to visit. My thanks to them.
Owner reply:
We feel the description of the property is clear and accurate. The washing machine suddenly went out of order and could not be repaired immediately. We arranged with our friends who look after the house that they would make their machine available, and willingly they did so. They were surprised by the comments made by the customer. The washing machine has since been repaired but is no longer listed on the website, although it may be used if available.

Good home from home in a lovely part of France.

An extremely well maintained, clean home in a sleepy French village. The place featured modern bathrooms in a building of immense character and charm. Beware about driving into the village though as the roads are so narrow that I scraped my side mirrors on the walls (as did other drivers during our stay). Sleeping 8 would be a bit of a squeeze but it very comfortably caters for 6. Excellent value for money and with the added benefit of 2 wonderful English neighbours (Vivien and Tony) who could not have been more helpful. We loved the area and would recommend the place to anyone.

The house itself is extremely comfortable. It has all essential facilities and even some luxuries. The town of Rieux is a lovely, friendly, peaceful town with everything you should need to hand. Shops, restaurant, bar and friendly neighbours (Val and Tony) who are more than happy to help and made us feel extremely welcome. The ownder, Martin and his wife, were very helpful both before and afterwards. I found this holiday wonderful and a group of us are booking it again for next year! Hopefully to see the wonderful vines in full bloom. Highly recommended!
