Perfect location and fantastic views..but tricky to get too,a good base for lots of days out but leave plenty of time because everywhere takes a while to get too what with the ever winding roads!
Loved soaking up the sun on the terrace, which totaly made the property, regardless of all those onlooking windows, our privacy wasnt felt to be breeched!
The only down fall was those stairs that can only be described as ladders..but maybe if we had not of consumed so much local tuscan wine we would have got on fabulously with them.
If its a homely, cool, relaxing house your looking for then this is most definatley the house to rent.
The entire holiday was a 5 star one, with special thanks to La scala.

Having got my computer up and running again (it objected to being left for a fortnight!) I felt I had to write and thank you for the wonderful week we had staying at La Scala. If I had known just how lovely it was I would have stayed there for the whole fortnight, I don't think any brochure could do it justice.
Although the weather was not kind to us, often cloudy and sometimes wet, though wonderfully sunny for two days when we seldom left the wonderful terrace, this did not seem to matter too much as the little house was so cosy, and that wonderful book collection!! We really enjoyed the journal kept by all who stay there, little gems like the lovely couple half way down the hill who sell their lovely wine, we moved on for the second week to another house, not one of Hello Italy's, I'm afraid as we moved out of Lunigiana, and the lack of information was so much so that we didn't even find a good restaurant until it was time to go home!!
Talking of restaurants, Da Remo's is a real find, we had some of the most wonderful food we have ever had in Italy there, in fact I am now of the opinion that the resturants of Lunigiana are the best in Italy because they are so un-commercialised and authentic, we love the surprises you can have having no menu, by far the best way to discover the true cuisine of Italy. This was our second visit to Lunigiana and we will certainly be back, everyone is so friendly, from the man we met on a mountain who took us into his garden to have our picnic, we were just a little lost! to the lovely lady in the bar in Monzone which we visited every day and knew by our second visit that my husband loved a Sambuca with his espresso! We really did not travel far afield, a lovely train trip to Lucca and Fivizzano in the rain (we vow to go back when the sun is shining!) enjoying instead the wonderful village life of a bygone era, I was really quite homesick when I left La Scala.
Many, many thanks

We just had a marvellous week in La Scala and loved it. We know the owner uses it herself for part of the year and so we are wondering what is availability throughout the rest of the year and into next spring? We might consider a return visit.
